Walt Havenstein: What’s Next?

BAE Systems, Inc. announced Walt Havenstein’s resignation as CEO and Chairman of the Board today.  His resignation takes effect Friday the 26th of June and begs the question: what’s next for Walt Havenstein?  According to the Wall Street Journal, he will take the helm of defense contractor SAIC as CEO.

Larry Prior shook things up in the GovCon world two weeks ago by leaving his post as SAIC’s COO to take over as ManTech’s President and COO, and Walt’s timely departure from BAE seems almost serendipitous.

While any talk about a potential next move for Walt is speculation at this point, the Wall Street Journal story cites “a person familiar with the matter.”  An SAIC spokesperson said the San Diego-based defense contractor had no plans to make an announcement on Monday.  More on this story as it develops.
