Microsoft HealthVault Partners with iGuard.org

Microsoft HealthVault has expanded to include the offerings of iGuard.org, an online program to track prescription medicine interactions.

iGuard.org is a free, personal drug monitoring program. The Health 2.0 software sends email alerts for any drug interactions, side effects, or treatment duplication based on the prescription and over-the-counter medications that consumers enter in to the program. It currently has $1.5 million consumers and caregivers in its system.

In the new partnership, Microsoft HealthVault users who sign up for iGuard.org will automatically receive an email based on the medications that they have previously entered.

According to general manager of the Consumer Health Solutions Group at Microsoft, David Cerino, “By providing consumers with immediate, customized information regarding the safety of their prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, iGuard.org furthers our goal of enabling patients to take greater control over managing their own health.”
