George J. Pedersen

George J. Pedersen is chairman of the board, CEO and co-founder of ManTech International Corporation. Pedersen serves as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the NDIA, a trade association for the defense industry. He is also vice chairman of the Education and Lobbying Committee. He is a member of the board of directors for AFEI.

In 2005, he received the James Forrestal Industry Leadership Award from NDIA for his “demonstrated record of business accomplishment” and his active role in “helping to preserve and strengthen the nation’s defense industrial base.” Pedersen was chosen for his “astute business judgment, keen political instincts and a broad understanding of the vital role the industrial base plays in ensuring the nation’s security,” according to NDIA.

Pedersen is chairman of the executive committee and a member of the board of directors of GSE Systems, a supplier of plant and full scope control room simulators to the nuclear power and petrochemical industries.

In 2006, Pedersen received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Corporate Growth National Capital Chapter. The award is given annually to individuals in the region that have contributed significantly to the region’s corporate growth over a number of years.

In February 2008, Pedersen received a Federal 100 Award from Federal Computer Week. He was chosen for having a significant influence on how the “federal government buys, uses and manages information technology,” and “for a risk-taking, vision and pioneering spirit in the federal IT community.”
