Executive Profile: L. William Varner of ManTech
L. William Varner was named president of the ManTech Mission, Cyber & Technology Solutions Group in September 2009. Prior to his role at ManTech, Varner was a core member of the senior executive team that grew Northrop Grumman TASC to approximately $2 billion in annual revenues.
In his role as vice President, he led more than 1,000 employees in the Intelligence Operating Unit in delivering technical solutions and operations support to the defense and intelligence communities. During his tenure at TASC, Varner led his team to achieve its first corporate Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 5 certification in software development. Before joining TASC, Varner was with ESL, Inc.
Varner earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The George Washington University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University, and a master’s degree in finance from Virginia Polytechnic University.
