DoD Social Media Hub Gets Facelift

The Department of Defense yesterday launched the newly improved Social Media Hub, designed to serve as an online resource for those who want to find out how to register their own social media page, ask social media-related questions, or stay current on the latest DoD social media news.

DoD has been using social media for a while; however, what is new is the renewed set of expectations for this new technology, Joelle Zarcone, who is on the social media team in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, told Armed with Science.

“[A]nd as a result, the Social Media Hub has undergone a complete facelift,” she said.

With the unveiling of the updated Social Media Hub, the DoD hopes the site will become a hub where users can learn more about social media practices among the services or get social media tips and tricks, Zarcone said.
