Accenture, UK Charity to Offer Green Job Training

Accenture has formed a two-year partnership with the charity Global Action Plan to offer green skills development and training services.

Accenture said it hopes to equip 1,300 young people in the U.K. and 250,000 people around the world with employment skills by 2015.

The program will run from 2012 to 2014 and target young people who are unemployed or come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Trewin Restorick, CEO of Global Action Plan, said the partnership was formed is in response to rising unemployment among adults aged 16 through 24.

Accenture said its U.K. foundation will provide nearly $133,000 annually for the green skills program, which will offer:

  • Mentoring
  • Peer-to-peer networks
  • Personal development skills
  • Practical work experience
  • Project management
  • Six-month internships
