Bernie Guerry is senior vice president of operations and general manager for national intelligence within General Dynamics‘ information technology business unit, where he leads a team of nearly 2,700 employees in the development, deployment, integration and operations of IT systems for U.S. intelligence agencies.
He also holds profit-and-loss responsibilities and manages internal operations including security, information systems, standards, quality, training and development.
Guerry joined General Dynamics in 2006 upon retirement from the CIA and elevated to the SVP ranks in 2010.
His CIA career, which started in 1984, culminated in his appointment as the agency’s senior procurement executive, holding responsibility for directing the contracting and acquisition program as well as overseeing the procurement of major systems, services, research and development and new technologies.
He served on the Office of Management & Budget’s Federal Acquisition Council, a subset of the President’s Management Council and was a member of the Intelligence Community Acquisition Council.
During his CIA career, he served in different capacities at the CIA, National Reconnaissance Office and the National Photographic Interpretation Center and held responsibilities including design, manufacture and operation of a multiple satellite architecture created to provide intelligence to military commanders and national decision makers.
In 1991, Guerry was selected by the CIA’s executive board to represent the Agency at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, where he completed the program in 1992 as a distinguished graduate.
He began his career as an active duty Air Force officer and attended acquisitions training at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Guerry has both delivered briefings and testified before Congress and is a public speaker in the areas of leadership, business operations and organizational change.
He is a member of AFCEA International and the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation.
Guerry holds a bachelor’s degree in business, an M.B.A. in management and Business and is a graduate of the DCI Seminar and the Intelligence Community’s Intelligence Fellows Program, as well as a 2005 graduate of Northwestern University Kellogg School Executive Leader Program.
Guerry was promoted into the Senior Intelligence Service in 1995, and received the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal in 2006.
