HENAAC Names 3 Lockheed Honorees for Tech Innovations; Marillyn Hewson Comments

Lockheed-Martin-BlueSergio Torres, Edward Jimenez and Ruben Herrera of Lockheed Martin were among those recognized on the sidelines of the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference for their contributions to the engineering community.

Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO of Lockheed Martin, delivered a speech at the Oct. 3 conference that congratulated the honorees and tackled the significance of the industry’s support for science, technology, engineering and math education, Lockheed said Tuesday.

“We rely on STEM professionals to help us engineer a better tomorrow for all of humankind,” Hewson said.

“And we must inspire young people to pursue careers in STEM by showing them the positive impact that they can have on the world.”

Torres, a fellow with Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions, was honored for his research on air traffic management systems and insights on the Federal Aviation Administration’s NextGen implementation.

Jimenez, a senior member of software systems research and development at Sandia National Laboratories, was lauded for his extensive work on reconstruction and querying algorithms and industrial radiography.

Herrera, operations and maintenance development lead at IS&GS, is a key player in making sure Internal Revenue Service systems are operational.

The Great Minds in STEM organization hosted this year’s HENAAC in New Orleans.
