GE Unveils Dubai-Based Aviation Tech Support Hub; Jim Daily Comments

GEGeneral Electric has opened a facility at an airport free zone in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to provide support services for customers of GE-built aircraft engines and other systems.

GE said Monday it also established the Middle East Aviation Technology Center for data scientists, application developers and user-experience designers to help clients adopt the company’s Internet of Things management platform Predix.

“We see the center as a vibrant facility focused on customer outcomes, where GE and airlines in the region can exchange ideas and collaborate as the world of data grows and changes,” said Jim Daily, GE vice president for systems and digital engineering and technology.

The company plans to apply data analytics, software and domain experience at the facility in an effort to help aviation customers address productivity and system performance issues.

GE developed its cloud-based Predix technology for organizations to gain insights into their operational data.
