ICF Names HHS’ Audie Atienza a Senior Fellow for Biomedical Informatics Team

ICF International has appointed Audie Atienza as a senior fellow for its biomedical informatics team, where he will contribute to the company’s clinical research efforts focused on healthcare data analytics.

ICF said Monday Atienza brings at least 15 years of behavioral science and health IT program leadership experience from the Department of Health and Human Services‘ National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute.

He previously served as senior adviser to the associate director for data science at NIH and behavioral scientist at NCI’s science of research and technology branch.

“Dr. Atienza has a unique base of experience in shaping policy and addressing large data challenges for the healthcare and biomedical scientific community,” said Matthew Perry, ICF senior vice president.

Perry added Atienza will contribute to ICF’s expansion efforts and support for national healthcare programs including President Barack Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative.

Atienza has also served as senior adviser to the chief technology officer of HHS, where he collaborated with the White House, the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in health technology projects.

He has completed an internship at the Department of Veterans Affairs‘ Palo Alto Health Care System and a post-doctoral research fellowship at Stanford University’s School of Medicine.
