Army, NSTA Pick 4 Student Teams as eCYBERMISSION STEM Contest Winners

CyberStockThe U.S. Army and the National Science Teachers Association have announced four student teams in grade six to nine as winners of the 2015-2016 eCYBERMISSION national competition.

The service branch-sponsored online contest is administered by NSTA and aims to encourage students to identify and address community problems through projects that seek to leverage students’ skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, NSTA said Friday.

The winning teams were selected from a group of 20 finalists and were announced Friday during the competition’s National Judging and Educational Event awards luncheon.

The military branch awarded each member of the four winning teams with $5,000 in U.S. Series EE Savings Bonds as part of the Army Educational Outreach Program.

One of the winning teams is a group of students from Science Rocks U in Texas that developed a method based on colloidal silver that works to treat wounds and fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
