The Computing Technology Industry Association has added cloud communications company ShoreTel and government contracts law firm Rogers Joseph O’Donnell to CompTIA’s State and Local Government and Education Council.
The council plays a key role in CompTIA’s public sector practice and comprises executives from multiple technology firms and other organizations focused on the state and local government and educational markets, the association said Thursday.
“Our council members are a source of knowledge for CompTIA members and the wider industry, offering guidance and support on how to grow business opportunities in the government and education markets,” said Peter Kaminskas, vice president of member relations at CompTIA.
The council tackles various initiatives such as the establishment of state procurement committees in California and Texas to support information technology acquisition efforts.
It also examines bills and policies in an effort to help the government enforce regulations for how technology must be used in those states, according to CompTIA.
The council also issues an annual report on technology, trends and perspectives based on a survey of state government IT leaders in coordination with the National Association of State CIOs and Grant Thornton.
