Army, Navy Commend Top FY 2013-2015 Defense Suppliers in Incentive Program; Katrina McFarland, Sean Stackley Comment

b-w world-peopleThe U.S. Army and Navy have released their respective lists of vendors the services commend for the companies’ performance as defense suppliers across the fiscal years 2013 through 2015.

The fiscal year 2016 Superior Supplier Incentive Program list identifies the top-performing business units within defense corporations and provides opportunities for those businesses to discuss prospects with government clients, the Army said Monday.

SSIP recognizes business units within parent companies that received the highest contract obligations within the three-fiscal-year period.

“SSIP helps the Army understand which contracts and programs are consistently attaining superior performance levels while also incentivizing contractor performance by highlighting areas where parent companies can improve,” said Katrina McFarland, acting assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology.

“Our overall goal is to provide the best systems and platforms to Sailors and Marines… It is important to highlight industry partners with a demonstrated ability to help us reach this goal effectively and most efficiently,” added Sean Stackley, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition.

The SSIP list comprises three tiers of companies ranked according to their performance level, with Tier I as the highest-performing companies.

The ranking system is based on the evaluation of data from the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System.

SSIP is part of the Defense Department‘s Better Buying Power program and started as a Department of the Navy initiative.
