Guident Appoints Jim Flyzik to Federal Advisory Board

Guident, a Herndon-based provider of business intelligence, management consulting and systems engineering services, has named Jim Flyzik to its federal advisory board. Flyzik is  president and founder of The Flyzik Group and has spent over 27 years working for the federal government at the Department of Homeland Security, Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Secret Service.

Teddy Matheu, Executive Vice President and Partner at Guident, said “The purpose of the Guident Federal Advisory Board is to provide strategic advice, expertise, and direction in the dynamic field of government information technology (IT),” and “Members range from retired civilian and intelligence personnel from the Environmental Protection Agency and Central Intelligence Agency, to commercial representatives from IBM and CSC, enabling us to have a broad view into the market.”

Flyzik is in charge of strategic business, performance-based contracting, and training and though leadership for The Flyzik Group. He has also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Systems and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of the Treasury, Chief of the Communications Division for the U.S. Secret Service, and Senior Advisor to Governor Ridge in the White House Office of Homeland Security (OHS).

Mr. Flyzik has served as Vice Chair of the federal government CIO Council, Team Leader on Vice President Gore’s National Performance Review (NPR) IT Team, and Chairman of the Government Information Technology Services Working Group and is currently the Chairman of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International Committee on Homeland Security.
