Vangent Inc. announced today the appointment of Ambassador R. Nicholas Burns to its Board of Directors.

Burns served in the United States Foreign Service for twenty-seven years before his retirement in 2008. Before his retirement, Burns held the post of Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and previously served as the United States Ambassador to NATO and Greece. Burns’ extensive record of experience in the foreign service also includes serving as State Department Spokesman under secretaries of state Madeline Albright and Warren Christopher.

Currently, Burns is Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and serves on the Board of Directors of the Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
