ISO 9001/AS9100 Re-Certification Awarded to Northrop Grumman Business Unit

The Navigation Systems Division (NSD) under Northrop Grumman Corp. has been re-certified in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001/AS9100. It was awarded to the Woodland Hills, California; Salt Lake City and Norfolk, VA locations. This achievement indicates that the company’s quality management system is up to par with international requirements.

In order to achieve this qualification the three locations underwent planning, developing, documenting, implementing, and auditing stages of its QMS. Det Norske Veritas, an accredited management system certification provider performed an independent audit.

Certification requirements include the implementation of a quality management system including all of the company’s activities. This includes management responsibility, resource management, product realizations, and measurement, analysis and improvement.

Jim Myers, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman’s Navigation Systems Division said, “This re-certification forms a new baseline from which we apply Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies to measure our efficiency and improve our quality management system…It reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and excellence and aids in providing value to our internal and external customers.”
