Mr. Lawrence Prior III, or Larry Prior as his friends know him, is the current Chief Operations Officer and director of ManTech International Corporation and will prove to be a key player in the government contracting community. Larry Prior was recently appointed as ManTech COO in June of this year.
Before replacing Bob Coleman, who left ManTech to ‘pursue other interests’, Prior worked at SAIC as its Chief Operations Officer for about two years. Prior began his career at SAIC in 2004 as president of the Intelligence, Security & Technology Group.
Prior is former CEO, president and CFO of LightPointe Technology Group. Before joining LightPointe Technology, Prior was COO and President of High Technology Solutions.
Before High Technology Solutions, Mr. Prior worked in the public sector as Chief Administrative Officer for San Diego County. Prior’s hard work for the County of San Diego in reforming its financial system earned him a spot in the San Diego County Taxpayers Association Hall of Fame. Prior held multiple executive positions at TRW Avionics & Surveillance Group in the 1990s as well.
A graduate of the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia, Prior began his career as a Marine Corps intelligence officer. The 10 year Marine Corps officer also served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Where does Mr. Larry Prior see the future of ManTech? In ManTech’s recent Quarter 2 Earnings Call on July 29, 2009, Larry Prior stated,
“Now that I’ve been on the job for a whole three weeks, my initial impressions are limited by a 50,000-foot assessment. But there are three areas I plan to focus my attention on in our second half. First and foremost, top line revenue growth.
Second, I’m focused on our people and the retention of our talent. I view our turnover rate as having a lot of room for improvement, and I’m going to challenge our management team to improve this metric. I want our leadership team to think about people first as they start each day. We will spend time on proactively developing and redeploying talent to lead the growth we expect in the second half and in 2010.
Third, in order to support this future growth, I’m committed to improving our program execution which, by the way, is already pretty darn good. I’m very interested in how we can improve program start-up with a disciplined ramp-up and preparation.”
In May 2010, Prior spoke at the “Voices of GovCon – A Discussion with Top Industry Executives,” hosted by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. Click here to view the video
