Widearea Systems Announces New Appointment to Advisory Board

Former Secretary of the Air Force, Michael W. Wynne, has been appointed to the advisory board of Frederick, Maryland based, Widearea Systems. The firm is a provider of unified communications solutions and services.

Wynne’s previous experience includes seven years in the Air Force, where he was an assistant professor of astronautics at the US Air Force Academy. He has 25 years experience in the private sector, including time spent at various technology companies. He has served as General Manager of the Lockheed Martin (then Martin Marietta) Space Launch Systems segment, and has spent time at both Research Analysis and Development and General Dynamics in executive management positions.

Wynne who said of his new appointment, “I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to help Widearea Systems continue to grow their service in the civil and military marketplaces,” has also served as Principal Deputy Undersecretary; and then Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology and Logistics since leaving the Air Force.

“Having someone like Mr. Wynne on our Advisory Board will provide great insight into technologies to be developed. His experience in defense and intelligence will help broaden our possibilities and we are pleased to welcome him on board,” said Choon Shim, Widearea Systems Chairman and CEO.
