On Monday, IT services firm Keane announced that its work in the area of test automation within the open source community has earned it recognition as a leading innovator on the 2009 InformationWeek 500, an annual publication identifying the country’s most innovative users of business technology.
The Open Source Test Automation Framework, http://www.open2test.org, is composed of a standard set of keywords that does not change, no matter what automation tool is used to automate testing. The framework also includes a driver script that interprets the keywords for a given tool. The driver script interprets the keywords and associated actions from the spreadsheet and then executes the instruction.
Keane executive vice president of global practices and products Marv Mouchawar was grateful for the distinction.
“Test automation today is largely the same as it was 10 years ago. Our experts at Keane created a solution to overcome the most difficult problem in developing a flexible, tool independent, platform independent, keyword-driven automation framework by delivering an open source solution. The goal of Open2Test is to raise the bar in the industry and set a new standard for test automation while allowing clients to focus on the important tasks such as writing automated test cases for their application under test. We are honored to be recognized by InformationWeek 500 for our open source innovation.”
