Craig Myler, Lee Schmoe, Justin Zachary named Bechtel Fellows

On Wednesday, Bechtel Corporation honored three employees by naming them Bechtel Fellows, a select group of experts in science and technology who have made outstanding contributions to the company and their professions. They also advise senior management on questions related to their areas of expertise, participate in strategic planning, and help disseminate new technical ideas and findings throughout the organization.

Craig Myler, an internationally recognized expert in the disposal of ultra-hazardous waste and chemical weapons, has served as a U.S. delegate to chemical weapons demilitarization conferences in Japan, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Belgium, and Switzerland. His research and development work includes presentations and patents for treatment of chemical or conventional munitions using acid digestion and for rapid filtration of air to protect against chemical, nuclear, and biological attack.

Lee Schmoe  is a world-class authority in gasification and integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) technology who has been a leading advocate of gasification and IGCC since 1980. He has provided technical and management oversight on dozens of gasification studies, project development efforts, and front-end engineering designs. Schmoe helped put together the Bechtel & GE IGCC Alliance and is on the alliance management team.

And Justin Zachary is is one of the foremost specialists in turbo machinery, with special expertise in gas turbine performance, combustion, and emissions. Zachary worked for Siemens, General Electric, and Rolls Royce, before moving to Bechtel in 1999. While at GE, he developed cutting-edge simulation software for the performance of the largest and most powerful jet engine of its time. Zachary currently provides technical support in the area of renewables such as waste heat, concentrated thermal solar, CO2 capture, and biomass combustion.
