Executive Profile: Marie O’Neill Sciarrone of Detica

In November 2008, Marie O’Neill Sciarrone became the director of cyber and information-sharing for Detica, Inc, a BAE Systems Company. Her previous role was as special assistant to the president of homeland security and senior director of cybersecurity and information-sharing policy.

During her tenure under the Bush administration, Sciarrone developed and coordinated the policies and programs relating to cybersecurity, including the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative. She also supervised the implementation of the Information Sharing Environment to encourage the sharing of terrorism, law enforcement, and homeland-security information.

From 2005 to 2007, she served as director of protection and information-sharing policy and as director of critical infrastructure protection policy for the Homeland Security Council.

Before joining the White House, Sciarrone was director of legislative affairs for information analysis and infrastructure protection at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Prior to her career in the federal government, Sciarrone was a policy and public-affairs adviser for Edelman Public Relations and for the clients of the media-consulting firm Stevens Reed Curcio & Company.

Sciarrone is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
