Tuesday Tip Jar: The Best Advice from the Week in Government Contracting

This week, Mike Gaffney of CSC shared his thoughts on the challenges of healthcare:

“One of the challenges in health is you have a very dispersed population in the United States. So, how do you effectively deliver electronic health records to a physician office in North Dakota, for example? The cloud becomes a great solution for connecting people with data, with applications, and with other people. But again, you have to have that wrapper of privacy and security. So, how do you get the benefits of a new computing involvement, in an area like healthcare that desperately needs modernization, while not leaving yourself vulnerable?  That’s something you can expect us to answer in the foreseeable future.”

Cobham’s Jeremy Wensinger spoke about opportunities for growth:

“In the U.S., if I look back at the company 18 months ago, many of these opportunities that I am looking at today in the C4ISR market would not have been available to us.  If I look at space apertures, space electronics, if I look at some of the integration of some of the communications equipment and some of the sensor equipment on aircraft and helicopters and even on the ground side the ability to deliver last mile communications – some of those things we would have been a part of as a component provider and now with the integration of these companies we are securely positioned in our ability to be more relevant to our end customer and provide more value to them.”
