Executive Profile: Randy Slager of Catapult Technology

Randy Slager is chief executive officer of Catapult Technology. He founded the company in 1996 and has since then overseen the its expansion. He is responsible for leadership to the company’s “nine lines of business that provide the full gamut of information technology services,” as he described in an ExecutiveBiz interview. Catapult provides system support for the Department of Transportation and other agencies.

Before he started the company, Slager was a partner and co-founder of E&A, a management consulting and systems engineering firm. During his time there, he was vital to the company’s involvement with the FAA. He oversaw Catapult’s IT operations and cooperation with the department.

Prior, Slager was an independent computer scientist/consultant for the FAA, where he converted non-air traffic control systems to a common IBM platform. He came to this position after his time spent with Sutron Corporation, where he launched its computer systems division.

Earlier in his career, Slager was a senior computer scientist with the FBI. Slager represented the FBI on the National Subcommittee for Data Communications Security setting COMSEC policy for the United States.

Slager served in the U.S. Army. He holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Psychology from the University of Utah and a M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Boston University’s overseas program while he was deployed in Germany.
