Executive Profile: Spain ‘Woody’ Hall of General Dynamics

Woody Hall is vice president of information technology strategy and chief information officer for General Dynamics Information Technology. In this position, he oversees the company’s strategic planning and operational and business development initiatives.

Before joining General Dynamics, Hall was SVP of Homeland Security Programs for SAIC. Here, he was responsible for directing initiatives for the company’s homeland security customers.

Prior to this, Hall was CIO for the U.S. Customs Service. He was also deputy assistant secretary and CIO for the Department of Energy. Earlier in his career, he was with the U.S. Air Force and completed numerous executive assignments in IT systems and programs.

During his career, Hall has earned several awards. In 2002, he was awarded with the Federal Computer Week‘s Federal 100 award. In 2000, he received the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive Award from the U.S. Department of Treasury. In 1997, Hall earned the Presidential Rank of Distinguished Executive Award from the Department of Energy and in 1991, he was awarded with the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Department of the Air Force.

Hall earned his B.S. in Industrial Management from Purdue University. He earned his M.S. in Management Science from the University of Dayton. He also completed the Senior Officials in National Security Program at Harvard University and the Executive Excellence Program at the Federal Executive Institute.
