Linda Gooden, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Services, and Dr. Steve Kelman of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government will co-chair the Commission on Government Technology Opportunity in the 21st Century. Renato “Renny” A. DiPentima, former chief executive officer of SRA International Inc. and a senior adviser at Providence Equity Partners, and Christopher Yukins, co-director of The George Washington University’s Government Procurement Law Program, will serve as co-vice chairs.
“This commission will constitute a serious effort by the nation’s leading information technology system and procurement experts,” said Phil Bond, chairman of TechAmerica Foundation, the organization spearheading the effort. “We fully expect the commission’s recommendations to carry weight within the administration and to result in substantive improvements.
Bond added the commission’s goal will be to create a blueprint for transforming IT acquisitions and management and “to produce that road map in time for the administration to consider our findings as they craft a FY 2012 budget.”
