Alion Cares, the charity fundraising division of Alion, has raised more than $47,000 in a drive to support Our Military Kids, which supports children of deployed National Guard and reservists, as well as children of wounded warriors.

Children who take part in the program are funded to join extracurricular activities or tutoring while a parent is deployed.

Chief Executive Officer Bahman Atefi and Chief Operating Officer Stacy Mendler presented Linda Davidson, executive director of Our Military Kids, with a check to support the organization during a ceremony at the Alion corporate offices.

The fundraising activities, including raffles and golf tournaments, took place from May until the end of September. The original goal was to raise $25,000 for the charity.
