Harris Corporation is taking steps to promote National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, taking place this October.

Harris representatives, including Vice President and General Manager of Harris Cyber Integrated Systems Dale Meyerrose, will be speaking at a number of cyber-themed events.

This week’s event is a cybersecurity panel at the C4ISR Conference and Awards Banquet at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. Meyerrose will also speak at the 2010 National Symposium on Homeland Security and Defense taking place Oct. 27.

The key message at this month’s events is that cybersecurity should be a national priority and the general public should understand how to protect itself against online threats.

“Cyberspace is the engine for much of the U.S. economy,” Meyerrose said, “I hope that we as a nation take heed of information presented during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and incorporate best practices now rather than wait for a cyber emergency to occur before we pay attention.”
