Harris Corporation will partner with Middle East technology company Atlas Telecom to provide communications intelligence services to the UAE, the companies announced this week in Abu Dhabi.

The new joint venture will focus on large scale, mission-critical intelligence systems, and will take place under the name of a joint venture company, Harris Atlas. One of the venture’s projects will be a Full-Motion Video Asset Management Engine, a platform providing video analytics, archiving and data coding.

“Harris Atlas’ initiatives extend well beyond the defense and security industries,” said Harris Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Howard Lance. “The E-GIS technology encompasses a broad range of capabilities that could be used for scientific investigations, resource management, and urban planning. Full Motion Video technology can be used to enhance the enjoyment and safety of sporting events, among other uses. The combination of all the capabilities we can bring to bear establishes Harris Atlas as a company that can be trusted by customers to deliver outstanding results, when it matters the most.”

Lance added Harris looks forward to making inroads and building partnerships in the Middle East.

“By establishing a real presence in the region, we hope to deliver a combination of truly cutting-edge technology and trusted reliable local services into solutions that really help our customers,” he said.
