TSA Promotes New Mobile App for Frequent Flyers

The Transportation Security Administration has unveiled MyTSA, a new application for iPhone and BlackBerry users that provides useful information for commercial passengers.

The app provides up-to-date wait times for security at U.S. airports, delays and other important flight information. Passengers who just finished going through security can also “check in” and tell others how long their wait time was.

The “Can I Bring?” feature allows users to type in the names of items to check if they can be brought on board an airplane. An alert will pop up if the items qualify as liquids or gels or cannot be brought in carry-on bags.

In addition, travelers with special status or needs, such as members of the armed forces and families with children, will find pertinent information about flying in the app.
