More than 70 million Americans will shop from their workplace at least once this holiday season, according to a survey from Shop.org.
With about 107 million Americans expected to take part in today’s Cyber Monday deals and a record 88 percent of companies offering deals today, worker may want to keep an eye out for wary managers.
Today could also be a good opportunity to upgrade office equipment: HP is offering rebates on printers, while Amazon.com, Walmart and Dell are offering deep discounts on laptops and other equipment. With steep competition, companies have become creative in their promotions.
Joan Broughton, interim executive director of Shop.org, said: “Hundreds of retailers have already announced special Cyber Monday promotions ranging from free shipping offers to flash sales lasting only an hour or two. When it comes to Cyber Monday deals, shoppers know they can’t lose this year.”
Despite Cyber Monday’s special sales, online shopping during the holidays is a trend that is likely here to stay. According to Reston, Va.-based company comScore, online shopping sales are up 13 percent from corresponding days last year.
“Online shopping is increasingly becoming the refuge of those preferring to avoid the crowds and long lines,” said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.
