Lockheed Martin is bringing jobs to its Manassas, Va., office to be filled by workers from a site closing in Eagan, Minn., according to The Washington Post.

Most of the vacancies will be in work contracting with the U.S. Navy, a major customer of the Manassas site. Lockheed Martin is working on a sonar system project for the Navy that was renewed through 2018, to the tune of $2.1 billion.

Roy Stevens, VP of business development for undersea systems in Manassas, is one of the recent transfers from the closing office.

“It’s a pretty easy transition,” he told The Post. “Lots of the laboratory space is already set up to do similar kinds of activities.”

The Eagan office is set to close completely by the end of 2012.
