Booz Allen, MITRE Rank on ‘Best Company’ List

Job hunters, pay attention. Fortune Magazine released its annual 100 best companies to work for list last week, and several firms of note made appearances.

Fortune surveyed 311 companies, and rated attitudes toward management, job satisfaction, fellowship among co-workers, pay and benefits, hiring practices, internal communication, training, recognition programs and diversity.

SAS topped the list of best companies. The Cary, N.C., software firm offers its employees on-site healthcare, daycare, fitness center and beauty salon.

Intel made the list at 51. The microchip manufacturer is growing, having weathered the economic downturn mostly intact. Its employees are seeing brighter times ahead.

Deloitte ranked at number 63. The accounting firm’s dedication to a diverse workforce resulting in high employee loyalty is well respected in the industry.

Enviable perks placed Microsoft at the number 72 spot. From standard corporate valet services such as dry cleaning to Wi-Fi-equipped shuttle service and valet parking, employees at the software company stay connected everywhere they go.

All work and lots of fun landed Booz Allen Hamilton on the list at number 85. Fortune reports employees of the consultant firm enjoy hula lessons, pet photo contests, ice cream socials and wine tastings when they’re not tackling serious government challenges.

MITRE rounded out the list at 96. The nonprofit research firm rewards its employees well with a stunning retirement package. The McLean, Va., company pays its retirees between 80 percent and 100 percent of their final annual salary.
