Harris Falcon Radios Big Seller in Brazil

Falcon III RF-7800V

Harris’ Falcon radios will soon be broadcasting in Portuguese. The communications company announced today a $14 million order to provide the Brazilian armed forces with Falcon II and Falcon III tactical radios.

The Falcon III RF-7800V hand-held radio will serve the Brazilian military’s first-line forces with wireless voice and high-bandwidth data communications with transmissions speeds up to 192 Kbps over 30 to 108 MHz frequency band.

Harris’ Falcon II manpack radio will give the Brazilians secure beyond-line-of-site communications. Harris also will provide training and customer service for both units.

The Falcon radios will provide support for humanitarian, security and disaster relief missions.

“Harris was awarded the orders after several months of challenging competitive field trials during which our radios were tested in a variety of environments that are inhospitable to tactical communication,” said Andy Start, president of international business for Harris RF Communications. “Our radio passed the test based on vast experiences with tactical communications in more than 150 countries.”
