Defense and Security Contractors Equipment Exhibit Set

If Toys R Us offered a specialized store for the defense and security industry, this would be it, and government contractors are turning out en masse to play at this year’s Force Protection Equipment Demonstration.

Created in response to the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the FPED is held every two years to showcase the latest in force protection, anti-terrorist and first-responder equipment. This year’s demonstration is sponsored by the Department of Defense Physical Security Equipment Action Group and coordinated by the U.S. Army Product Manager for Force Protection Systems.

Organizers expect 575 exhibitors demonstrating more than 3,000 commercial off-the-shelf products to attend. All products at the demonstration will be available for purchase and testing within 90 days of the event.

The event will be held May 17-19 at Stafford Regional Airport in Northern Virginia. The demonstrations are not open to the public. Prospective attendees must register before the event.

Expected vendors include BAE Systems, Harris Corporation, Honeywell Vindicator Technologies, ITT Corporation, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin Gyrocam Systems, Northrop Grumman, QinetiQ, Raytheon BBN Technologies, SAIC and Siemens Government Services, Inc.
