ARINC Processing Technology First to Pass New CUPPS Testing

ARINC Incorporated today announced its vMUSETM common-use passenger processing technology has successfully passed compliance testing under CUPPS V1.03, the first technology to do so under this latest CUPPS version. The testing was handled by Lufthansa Systems, known to be one of the strictest platform testers.

The vMUSE platform supports both Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems and applications, while Version 1.03 of the CUPPS specification allows for self-boarding gates, bag scales, and multiple types of printer support.

ARINC has worked closely with Las Vegas McCarran Airport and Samuel Ingalls, CIO of McCarran and chair of the Common Use Working Group, throughout development of the CUPPS standard in order to make uniform technical guidelines deploying airline applications, leading to lower costs and faster deployment.

“McCarran was one of the global airports that piloted the CUPPS platform and is now pleased to be one of many locations around the world moving forward with full implementation,” Ingalls said. “It is indeed exciting to see the aviation community actively embracing the new standard, which is positioned to support innovation in the passenger processing realm into the distant future. I do want to acknowledge the exceptional contribution of ARINC to the development and progression of the CUPPS standard.”

ARINC installed the first CUPPS platform in a live operational environment at McCarran in January 2009. The McCarran CUPPS installation has handled more than 1 million passengers to date.
