BAE Systems Sponsors Oman Sailing School

BAE Systems is helping kids take to the water this summer, allowing 450 students to participate in June Summer Sailing camps run by The Oman Sailing Schools in Musannah and Marina Bander Rowdah, Oman.

BAE sponsors the Musannah Sailing School and has a long history of supporting sailing initiatives, including Try Sailing sessions in Oman and Oman Sail’s professional offshore and dinghy sailing teams in events around the world. As a country rich in maritime activity, Oman offers many opportunities for youngsters to engage in sailing as a sport and recreation. The offshore team is currently in France preparing for the Tour de France a la Voile, a premiere regatta in which competitors race along the French coastline over a period of one month.

The month-long summer sailing camps run from June-July at both centres from each Saturday to Tuesday. Activities held during the camp include theoretical and practical sessions on the basics of sailing, knot tying, hoisting sails and taking control of a boat. Omani youths between the ages 8-16 are encouraged to participate, and new participants are always welcome.
