Top 100 Contracting Companies of 2011 Announced

Budget cuts, buyouts and numerous layoffs have challenged the defense contracting sector recently, but the industry remains one of the largest markets in the world. The 2011 Washington Technology Top 100 list of the top defense contracting companies has been released, reporting that the contractors on the list brought in $84.6 billion in prime defense contracts during the 2010 fiscal year.

With pockets of growth throughout the market, allowing many top executives to invest resources in areas such as cybersecurity and health IT, even a 10 percent reduction would allow the sector to remain one of the largest in the world. The annual Washington Technology rankings analyze government procurement data in areas of information technology, systems integration, engineering services and professional services.

The list of the top 20 defense contractors based on revenue in 2010 is as follows:

15. ITT Corp.
16. Fluor Corp.
17. BAE Systems Inc.
