Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) unveiled new solutions Wednesday to enable sports and entertainment venues and service providers to enhance wireless bandwidth and performance in high-density areas, allowing for the thousands of fans in these venues to access simultaneous, real-time access to mobile applications and services.
Cisco Connected Stadium Wi-Fi is the tech industry’s first Wi-Fi solution specifically designed for large, high-density environments such as stadiums and arenas. The solution provides a single, secure wireless network that will simultaneously connect mobile applications and services to the thousands of fans congregating in these venues. Cisco is also hopeful the new solution will create new business opportunities for teams, venue owners and operators.
The solution is used with Cisco Aironet®3500p Access Point, Cisco’s first purpose-built access point specifically designed to meet the performance and aesthetic needs of high-density environments, and CleanAir technology, which detects and avoids other area wireless traffic.
“Cisco is proud to work with forward-thinking brands such as Sporting Club to bring a unique and technologically advanced experience for fans through flexible and customizable networking solutions,” said David Holland, Cisco general manager and senior vice president of Sports and Entertainment Solutions Group. “The Connected Stadium Wi-FI solution aims to meet the unique needs of today’s passionate fans at live events by providing a reliable and consistent mobility experience. We believe this solution will truly transform the fan experience and help fuel significant growth opportunities.”
The Wi-Fi has seen great success so far-MarketWatch reports Sporting Kansas City’s Livestrong Sporting Park stadium opened June 9 fully equipped with the Cisco Connected WiFi system, allowing 1,900 fans to use the Wi-Fi at the same time. No dropped signals were reported.
