Harris Corporation announced today it has received $12.2 million in orders to supply additional Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios systems to the Defense Department. DoD is acquiring the AN/PRC-117G to deliver greater tactical communications capabilities to the battlefield.

According to Harris, the AN/PRC-117G provides warfighters with situational awareness of the battlefield through wireless, high-bandwidth communications. The new smaller and lighter man-portable radio allows up to 30 people on a network and expands the coverage in the field, providing greater communication range leading to improved command, control and collaboration.

“The Falcon III AN/PRC-117G addresses the full range of wideband tactical networking capabilities today, including video, network-wide e-mail and chat and biometrics,” said Brendan O’Connell, president, Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications.

This acquisition will support DoD’s requirements for wideband networking as well as line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight tactical communications.
