SAP Africa is continuing its support of Nelson Mandela Foundation, making a donation of 1 million rand-the equivalent of 149,000 U.S. dollars-to support the 9th annual Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture. This year’s lecture was held July 23 at the Linder Auditorium at the Johannesburg College of Education.
it News Africa reports Ismail Serageldin, Director of Library of Alexandria (BA) in Egypt, delivered this year’s lecture, which was attended by several South African cabinet Ministers, business leaders and non-profit sector representatives.
“We are extremely proud of our partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, which we have been involved with for the past eight years,” Pfungwa Serima, SAP Africa MD, told it News. “The Foundation embodies the spirit of one of the greatest moral and political leaders of our time and it is both a pleasure and an honour to play an integral part in the ninth Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture and beyond.”
The annual lecture, designed to coincide with festivities surrounding Mandela’s birthday, is the basis of the Foundation’s Dialogue and Annual Lecture Programme, which aims to highlight the critical role of dialogue in promoting challenges and solutions related to social development.
