Symantec has entered a global agreement with SMX to sell the New Zealand email security company’s cloud-based security solution worldwide. Stuff Business Day reports SMX’s antispam, antivirus solution will integrate Symantec’s Brightmail software, and is targeted at large international systems integration vendors and ISPs looking to offer comprehensive service under their own brand and local infrastructure.
SMX is focused on regional clouds, preventing email from being routed through the U.S. and potentially meeting scrutiny under the Patriot Act. SMX is used by Times Group to provide inbound and outbound email filtering for its own staff in addition to more than 1 million customers who use email hosted by Times Internet.
