James Jones Elected Director of General Dynamics

James L. Jones has been elected by the board of directors of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) to serve as director of the corporation, a decision effective Aug. 3.

Retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007 after 30 years of service, Jones, 67, served as the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States from January 2009 to November 2010. He currently serves as president of global consultancy Jones Group International and sits on the boards of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Atlantic Council of the United States, the East-West Institute, and the Bi-Partisan Policy Council.

“Jim Jones’ depth of knowledge and experience in global security issues makes him a valuable addition to the General Dynamics board,” said Jay Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of General Dynamics.

Jones earned his Bachelor of Science degree and an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from Georgetown University and is a graduate from the National War College. He was 32nd Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003, and served as Supreme Allied Commander, Europe and Commander of the United States European Command following his commandment position until 2006.
