John Zamora of Deloitte Named 2011 Executive of the Year for Diversity Efforts

John Zamora, chief diversity officer of Deloitte LLP, has been named the  2011 “Executive of the Year” by the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, honored for his work to create leadership opportunities for diverse talent at Deloitte and increasing Latino representation throughout professional service organizations.

Zamora’s work with Deloitte includes the Emerging Leadership Development Program, which prepares high-performing minority professionals for the next stage in their careers and aims to place diverse talent in senior positions. He has also overseen a sponsorship and mentoring culture that supports rising talent, with more than 80 percent of Deloitte’s employees participating in mentoring programs last year.

“Deloitte’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of diverse talent is unmatched,” said Manny Espinoza, chief executive officer, ALPFA. “John’s leadership has been critical in this regard and has helped shape an inclusive environment where diverse talent thrives. His efforts serve as a model for other leaders in professional services.”

Zamora was named to the Hispanic Business 2011 Corporate Elite earlier this year, while Deloitte has been recognized multiple times for maintaining a diverse workforce. The company has earned a Top 10 ranking in “The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies” eight times and ranked among Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” 12 years in a row.
