Panel Addresses Vet Unemployment; CACI CEO Paul Cofoni Comments

Paul Cofoni, CACI

Veteran employment must be addressed in concert by the private sector and the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, a panel of industry and labor experts said Monday.

CACI CEO Paul Cofoni was one of five panelists addressing the Military Officers Association of America, discussing unemployment among veterans and how to transition them into the civilian workforce.

CACI, which hires nearly 100 disabled veterans a year, teams with various military transition programs to hire veterans with skills that match the company’s mission.

Cofoni said veterans should look to gain skills, use their clearances and find jobs in locations where they are comfortable.

“If we can get the Fortune 1000 to have the same percentage, 3 to 4 percent of their personnel are veterans, we would knock this issue of veterans’ unemployment on its head,” Cofoni said.
