BAE Systems has donated $150,000 to partner with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and support education programs for elementary and middle school students in the subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“BAE Systems cybersecurity analysts protect and defend the United States from the onslaught of threats to our data, intellectual property and, ultimately, our national security,” said John Gannon, president of BAE’s intelligence and security sector.

“As part of this mission, we need to invest in our Nation’s young people to ensure we have the wide-range of science-based talent and expertise well into the future. There are great careers available in the STEM field and BAE Systems is really proud to partner with UMBC.”

The University System of Maryland is home to multiple schools and programs that support and receive support from contracting firms and executives.

In September, ExecutiveBiz profiled Booz Allen Hamilton Executive Vice President Mark Gerencser, who supports graduate and undergraduate cybersecurity programs at University of Maryland, University College as chair of the board of visitors.

More than 100 Booz Allen employees have enrolled in those programs as part of a special partnership.
