CH2M Hill has announced that the former administrator and project director with the Washington State Department of Transportation, Ron Paananen, has joined the company’s Transportation Business Group. He will also be joining the firm’s Anacostia Waterfront Initiative Project team and will serve as task lead and deputy program manager for the South Capitol Street Corridor.
“I joined CH2M HILL because it is a company that has a world-wide reach of projects and programs,” said Paananen. “I have been impressed throughout my career with the quality of people that work for CH2M HILL, and the company culture of service to its clients.”
Paananen has more than 32 years of experience with WSDOT and King County, managing high-profile, complex, multi-billion dollar contracts. His experience involved terminal ferries, highway and bridge design and construction throughout the state of Washington.
The executive holds a bachelors and masters degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University and the University of Washington. He is also a member of the American Public Works Association and previously served as an officer in the Washington State Association of County Engineers.
