CGI Federal has reported it booked more than $375 million in U.S. Army and Army client orders during its recently-closed 2011 fiscal fourth quarter. It will release its full quarterly results Nov. 10.
“The Army is our largest single public sector client, so we are very pleased to close our fiscal year with such strategic wins in support of their mission-critical operations,” said George Schindler, president of CGI Federal.
Mike Abramsky, a financial analyst for RBC Capital Markets, attributes a large portion of CGI’s success to the company’s $900 million acquisition of Stanley Inc. in 2010. He told the Financial Post that the combination of Stanley’s Army expertise coupled with CGI’s proficiency in systems is a dynamic combination.
CGI benefited from the freeing up of $1.5 billion in “logjammed” Army contracts it had identified in the 3rd quarter, the publication noted. Abramsky also said the company may have profited from a shift in the Army’s focus from offensive initiatives to defense initiatives, such as cybersecurity and domestic security.
“As the Army and our other government clients face continuing change, I am confident they will continue to call on CGI,” said Randy Brooks, senior vice president of CGI Federal. “Our capabilities, expertise, and partnering approach help them anticipate and adapt while achieving their missions more efficiently and effectively.”
CGI will deliver a range of services and support under the various contracts, including systems development and maintenance, training and information assurance. Work will support Army operations, including its:
- Training and Doctrine Command
- Reserve Command
- Materiel Command
