Havenstein to Help SAIC Select New CEO Before June Retirement

Walt Havenstein, SAIC

Science Applications International Corp. has announced that Walt Havenstein will be actively engaged in selecting his successor prior to his June 15, 2012 retirement.

“The board of directors will conduct a thorough and thoughtful search for a successor, considering internal and external candidates,” Havenstein said. “The transition plan we have adopted will allow me to participate in the selection and we will assure a smooth transition.”

Havenstein announced his retirement Oct. 3, citing personal reasons. He has previously served as president and CEO of BAE Systems’ U.S. subsidiary BAE Systems Inc, and is currently director of SAIC’s board of directors.

“We are pleased that Walt will continue as CEO as we implement an orderly and constructive transition,” said A. Thomas Young, non-executive chairman of SAIC’s board.
