Profile: Gene Kakalec, SAIC SVP for Business Development

Gene Kakalec, SAIC

Gene Kakalec is the senior vice president for business development for SAIC’s defense solutions group.

His responsibilities include all business development and sales activities, international market expansion, alliances, strategic planning and investment management, mergers and acquisitions activities as well as branding and marketing communications for the group.

Prior to joining SAIC, Kakalec was senior vice president of Apogen Technologies, a private equity startup created through the acquisition of several properties and later sold to an international firm.

Kakalec also spent 10 years at Northrop Grumman as a corporate officer. He managed various business development organizations for the defense, civilian, state and local, commercial and international marketplaces in the information technology sector.

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Kakalec was vice president of business development at Syscon Services Corp. where he managed the business development, proposal operations and capture management activities for the company. He has also held senior positions at PRC Inc., and several other software companies.

Kakalec holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from Franklin and Marshall College.
