Rockwell Collins Makes the Wall Street List for Technology Innovation

Rockwell Collins jumped on the 2011 Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards list this year, being named first runner-up in the Transport category. The company was recognized for its synthetic vision on a Head-up Display, which is able to enhance situational awareness of pilots in areas of low-visibility or unfamiliar terrain.

There were 605 company applicants to choose from and only 35 winners and runner-ups in 16 categories were named. Companies selected where chosen based on whether their innovation broke conventional ideas or processes in its given field.  Other factors include whether the innovation surpasses marginal improvements on a pre-existing entity and whether the impact is widespread in its given field or on future technology.
